Naciah (b. Mozambique) is a visual artist and model based in London. Working primarily in charcoal, her practice investigates memory, presence and the layered language of identity.

 

Through figurative drawing—most often portraiture—she records emotive states and personal histories, using her hands and fingers to blend tones directly into the paper while erasers shape light and contrast. Each drawing functions as a release: the act of making becomes a conversation between her inner world and the subjects she portrays. Grief, joy, tenderness and confusion are embedded in the marks themselves; the portraits are as much an emotional record as they are likenesses. Some faces emerge through layered, textured surfaces; others confront the viewer with striking clarity, frozen in a moment of truth. Across the work, presence—not merely representation—is the guiding concern.
