The square.

This piece was born from a beautiful trip to Morocco during the 1-54 Art Fair in Marrakech — days filled with art, culture, food, music and an overwhelming sense of connection. One evening in the Medina, I found myself in a square alive with movement: snakes on one end, monkeys on another and vendors selling everything from olives and spicy dishes to juices and traditional sweets. But what stayed with me most was a circle of people, chanting, clapping and dancing to the rhythms of Amazigh music. At the center, a dancer spun his hat in fluid, hypnotic circles as the crowd gathered — some seated, some standing, others passing through...

I created this painting to hold that vibrating moment still — to preserve the energy, the rhythm and feeling of being completely present within it.
