This piece began as a simple portrait — a clear, straightforward face drawn in my charcoal technique on a large scale. But as I worked, I grew restless with that giant face and I began layering it with strokes, smudges, and erased lines until the original image was almost entirely obscured from the chaotic lines.
For me, this project became an exercise in unlearning — letting go of everything I thought I knew in search of that original, raw freedom of creation. It’s about that feeling of making without rules, pouring pure emotion onto the paper. In the end, the work is less about representation and more about the liberation of the hand and heart in motion.
